PCエンジンというコンシューマー機が発売されてから今年で 30年が経つんだとか…。 PCエンジンといえば、コア構想というのがありまして、PCエンジン本体を核として、いろいろな機器とつないで、単なるゲーム機にとどまらないものにしようというコンセプトがあったのですが、結局はCD-ROM²こそ話題になったし、お値段は高かったものの、それなりに売れて話題になったのですが、あとのコア構想は、ちょっと時代が PCエンジンの発想に追いついていなかったというか、ちょっと残念な結果に…。 NECホームエレクトロニクス自身も、PCエンジンシャトルとか出してコア構想をブチ壊すし、スーパグラフィックスなんて本体がデカイし…。
核となるように、コンパクトで正方形ではないのですが、四角で背面や左右に機器を並列しやすいデザインはなんだったのか？ と…。
PCエンジンの発売当初は、当時、圧倒的なシェアを誇っていた ファミリーコンピュータを意識してか、大きいキャラのザ・功夫や、美麗なグラフィックを協調したものが出ていましたが、なんていうかク〇ゲーっぽいものが多かったのですが、年が明けて、業務用ビデオゲームで話題になっていた R-TYPE を移植して、一気に注目が高まりました。ただ、オイラは R-TYPE の動画を持っていなかったので、今回貼ったのは、PCエンジンのカルトシューティングと言われたマジカルチェイスです。
う～ん、PCエンジンを楽しんでいた頃に戻りたいな…。
